Our Show Houses

Temora Manor

Jan 1, 1984

Our first show house was put together from scratch in three short months, thanks to the hard work of the chairmen. This Tuscan-style Victorian mansion was built in 1857 by Norris Starkweather for the family of Dr. Arthur Pue, Jr., on land given by his grandmother Mary Dorsey Pue of Belmont Estate. Later Laura Hanna and Mrs. John Breckinridge lived on the property. Delegate William S. Hanna was also raised at Temora.

In 1980 developer Alan Borg purchased the property and performed minor restoration. In 1985 Borg attempted to convert the house into an inn and restaurant but failed to get approval. The land has been sold and subdivided since with an LDS church built in the former pasture. The house is at present a private residence.

Temora is located at 4300 Temora Manor Lane, Ellicott City, MD. Temora was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The Show House was held from October 13 to November 2. The chairmen were Enalee Bounds and Bette Chambers.
