HEC Funds to Assist Local Flood Victims

Jul 31, 2016

Historic Ellicott City, Inc. (HEC) sends our thoughts and prayers to all the area merchants and property owners affected by the devastating flood waters that hit Main Street on the evening of July 30, 2016. The destruction and loss caused in a matter of a few hours is difficult to comprehend.

As an organization whose mission is to preserve Ellicott City’s distinct historic character, we are committed to helping the town recover. Historic Ellicott City Inc. is establishing a fund to help those properties in the historic district who were severely impacted by the flood waters. The funds will be set aside, in part, from the proceeds of HEC’s Annual Decorator Show House, which is set to open next month.

“HEC recognizes that the rebuilding will take time and patience. It is in keeping with our mission of restoration and preservation to be able to offer assistance to our Main Street neighbors,” noted HEC President Joan Becker. “Our Board will, in the next few days, be determining how best to implement such an effort,” Becker added.
